My cottonwood oil is double infused in avocado oil (populus deltoides - Eastern cottonwood) and made from locally foraged buds that grow along Seneca Lake. It is a golden color, and you can smell the famous cottonwood scent - but please note that each batch can vary in scent/thickness & can sometimes have 'cloudiness' or even particles in the oil due to the nature of the resin (resin contains some solids, volatile oils & aromatic compounds & acidic components, which can cause cloudiness in the oil). Even after straining particles can remain, but please know that all moisture is removed from the finished oil.
There are 3 types of cottonwoods growing in the US: Eastern, Black & Fremont. Black cottonwood is supposed to have the strongest cottonwood scent. Resin on each bud can vary, my process removes all resin from buds before infusing into the oil, so I know how much is in each batch. I only have Eastern in my area, so I use a large amount of resin to capture the scent - but please know that the scent can vary between species of trees, and that this is not a perfume oil, but made for its chemical compounds. Resin scent can also change depending on temperature. In cold winter months, you may find times when the oil does not smell as strong, but once warm weather hits, you'll find the oil has a consistent scent. This oil does have a slight stickiness to it, due to the large amount of resin in the oil. Made on 10/12/26.

Cottonwood is helpful for muscle pain & modulates inflammation. I find that it's helpful with 'stress pain', like when you've been overthinking and maybe your neck hurts from the tension. It's also useful for minor skin irritations with redness involved and is microbial. But I'll be honest and say that the scent is my favorite thing about it:) I absolutely love the scent, and that alone lifts my spirits:) I collect the buds right along Seneca Lake, as there are some beautiful, giant cottonwoods along the water. I can only imagine how old these trees are, but I feel so peaceful in their presence. I will often sneak a hug in, when no people are around...ha!
